APVA Preservation Virginia is pleased to launch the new online Preservation Services Directory. As with the Consultant's Directory previously administered through the Virginia Department of Historic Resources (VDHR), this new Directory will be a sourcebook for those seeking preservation services across the Commonwealth. We have designed the Preservation Services Directory to meet the needs of historic property owners and managers; architects; craftspeople; developers; governmental entities; and others seeking and providing the services and products associated with the preservation and rehabilitation of historic properties. Visitors to APVA Preservation Virginia website (www.apva.org) may access the Preservation Services Directory free of charge beginning 5 March 2007.
Products and services accepted for listing must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and will be reviewed accordingly before going on the APVA's website. All providers listed pay a fee to be included. Users of the Preservation Services Directory will have the opportunity to comment and rate the providers and products they use. Like the VDHR's Consultants Directory, inclusion in the Preservation Services Directory is not an endorsement of the providers or the products listed, and APVA Preservation Virginia does not accept responsibility for the performance of any provider or product in the Directory.
For providers desiring inclusion in the Directory, the following rates for setup and a one-year listing apply; we guarantee rates through February 2008:
$175 for online submission of Provider Input Form.
$275 for Provider Input Form submitted by mail or fax.
Providers will have their own page that will include the information they provide on the input form, their logo, a photo, and a link to their website if desired. Users of the online Preservation Services Directory will access the provider's page by clicking on the provider's name in the Category listing (e.g. Architectural Historians; Masons, Brick) or the Service Region listing (e.g. Central Virginia; Virginia (Statewide).
We will give those providers submitting online a password to enable them to update their page at will. (Category listing and/or Service Region listing can only be changed at renewal.) Non-online submitters may request APVA Preservation Virginia to make changes to their page and/or Category/Service Region listing twice during the initial year.
Annual renewal for online submitters will be $100 and $175 for non-online submitters.
As with any new service, suggestions by either a provider or user are welcomed and encouraged. Feedback is critical to the future success of the Directory.
