The 1997 Field Report covers the 1997 field season. It includes information on the southeast bastion of James Fort and an early look at a mid-century building. A collection of artifacts from a large sealed context are also examined.

This is one of six technical interim reports covering the Jamestown Rediscovery project. It is intended as a summary of a single season's excavations and all conclusions are tentative.
